H-Alpha Solar Telescope for Argentina

The H-alpha Solar Telescope for Argentina (HASTA) at El Leoncito, Argentinia, is used since April 1998 to perform chromospheric solar observations in the Halpha line and in integrated white light. The main telescope with a diameter of 10 cm and a focal length of 170 cm is equipped with a tunable Lyot filter and a CCD-camera. The unique feature of HASTA is the full coverage of the solar disk with high spatial (1.5 arcsec) and time (down to 3 sec) resolution, providing continuous monitoring of solar activity. From 2002 onwards, the responsibility for HASTA was transferred to the Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie (MPAe) at Katlenburg-Lindau (since 2004 named "Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research").
