MGGPOD

Attention: Since the main authors have switched to Geant4, MGGPOD is no longer extensively tested!

MGGPOD is a Geant3/MGeant based simulation tool. The available version is capable of producing MEGAlib compatible output by defining the variables ACT2, INIT2 and MEGALIB. However, the MEGAlib-mode (and only the MEGAlib mode of MGGPOD) requires that your geometry has been converted with MEGAlib's geomega, since special detector description files need to be generated (detector.det and megalib.ini).

This is the latest version for the g77 compiler on 32-bit systems - do not try to compile it as 64-bit version, because some results might be wrong! Please make sure to also use a cernlib version compiled with gfortran.

Last g77 version: MGGPOD 1.1 beta revision 108 (35 MB!) for g77

There is no (official) version using gfortran. I suggest you do not simply try to update the above version to gfortran, since some results (especially more complex simulations involving hadrons and activation simualtion) might be wrong!

All additional data and cross-section files are included in subdirectories. Make sure to copy the data from the GCALOR_Data directory into your $GEANT3/lib directory.

Please consult the MGGPOD manual for further information and address all questions to: Georg (dot) Weidenspointner (at) hll (dot) mpg (dot) de
