MEGAlib software license


1. Definitions
"Software" means the source code of MEGAlib or any part of it, all executables and 
scripts, and the documentation.
"Copyright Holders" means the developers of the Software, who are named in the individual 
source code files.
"Result" means any information obtained, gathered, modified, etc. with MEGAlib (e.g. 
images, spectra, effective areas, sensitivity numbers, etc.) 


2. Usage and modification
The Copyright Holders hereby grant you the right to use and/or modify the Software for 
non-commercial scientific, medical, or threat detection purposes as long as the 
original copyright notices and this license remain in the Software. All other uses 
require prior written permission.


3. Distribution
You are allowed to distribute the Software as long as all files, especially the copyright 
notices and this license, remain in the distribution, everybody is allowed free and 
unlimited access to your distribution, and you do not receive any monetary gain from the 
distribution.


4. Publications
If you publish any Results which are completely or partly obtained through the use of 
this Software or any modifications to this Software (even if you use only parts of the 
source code in your own program), you have to correctly cite this Software. The standard 
reference is:

If you use a special algorithm to obtain Results for your publications, for example one 
of the event reconstruction algorithms, or create images via list-image reconstruction, 
you also have to reference publications explaining those algorithms in your publications. 
If those references exist, they can be found in the "About" section of the GUI of the 
individual program.  


5. Warranty disclaimer
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER 
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES THAT THE SOFTWARE IS 
FREE OF DEFECTS, MERCHANTABLE, FIT FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGING. THE ENTIRE 
RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE 
PROVE DEFECTIVE IN ANY RESPECT, YOU (NOT DEVELOPERS) ASSUME THE COST OF ANY NECESSARY 
SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. THIS DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY CONSTITUTES AN ESSENTIAL 
PART OF THIS LICENSE. NO USE OF THE SOFTWARE IS AUTHORIZED HEREUNDER EXCEPT UNDER THIS

6. Termination
This license terminates immediately and without notice if you fail to comply with any of 
the terms of this license, or if you institute litigation against any Copyright Holder 
with regard to this Software.
