- First results on the galaxy to XMM comparison by
Alexis Finoguenov and Nick Scoville.
- Optical image is shown (in blue) with X-ray contours
(red) overlaid.
- A wavelet scale-wise filtering algorithm (a trous) has
been applied to detect features on scales from 26" to 7' in optical
and 8" to 4.3' in X-ray. The results of this filtering are also
available as separate
scale
- A number of new clusters are detected both in optical and
X-rays. Two previously known clusters are also seen.
Fig 1: Clustering of optical
sources (blue contours) with red XMM contours overlaid. Each
panel represents the optical sources available within a certain
redshift range.
Redshift range increases
from left to right and from top to bottom.
A zoom-in of the of the field covered by XMM up to date can be found in
the
following images. Clicking on each panel will bring up a more detailed
image.
