The phone and fax numbers in the MPE personnel list are generally only the institute number and the extension. The
  - country code for Germany is 49
  - area code for Garching is 89
  - institute's number is 30000.
A full number is then: 49-89-30000+extension.
In cases a person has a different location, the full number including the area code is given.

If you call from inside MPE only the extension has to be dialed.
