First Galaxies

The Theoretical Modelling of Cosmic Structures (TMoX) group at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics is hosting a 5 day workshop at the Ringberg Castle, Munich (Germany).

The aim of the workshop is to have focused discussions on the latest developments regarding our understanding of the formation and evolution of the first galaxies in the Universe. We intend to focus on:

  1. -Formation, growth and properties of the first galaxies

  2. -The formation and growth of seed black holes and the impact of the associated feedback onto growing proto-galaxies

  3. -Metal pollution and feedback from the first generations of stars and how these regulate the growth of the first galaxies

  4. -The role of reionization during the first billion years of galaxy evolution
