Because the spatial distribution of the thermal back-round is depending on the position of the adaptive optics ON/OFF mirror, very deep imaging in K-band is limited by residuals ("donuts") from the sky subtraction, when using this ON/OFF mirror for changing from the object to the sky position. To avoid this problem, one should record the sky frames by moving the telescope with the same settings of the ON/OFF mirror.
