Polarimetry

Very similar to spectroscopic observations, where a spectroscopic reference star must be observed along with the object of interest, polarimetry calibrations require observations of an unpolarized reference star. The polarizer has to be placed manually into the beam. Along with the rotation of the polarizer, there is a small shift of the object across the field.
