The handling of observation fields on the sky (see Fig. 8.5) is prepared by
- applying the aspect solution to each photon event and projecting it onto a tangential plane,
- screening the events for low quality observing periods (e.g., detector off, bad aspect solution, missing housekeeping information),
- creating the exposure map.
