View of the X-Ray Sky after the almost Complete ROSAT Survey
View of the X-ray sky - in a galactic projection with the centre of our Milky Way in the middle - after completion of the ROSAT all-sky survey, the first survey with an imaging X-ray telescope. The image shows in the overview the wide-ranging distribution of the diffuse X-ray emission. In addition, more than 50,000 new point sources were discovered.
