Spiral Galaxy NGC 4258The ROSAT observation of the spiral galaxy NGC 4258, which exhibits "anomalous arms" and a Seyfert nucleus. In the upper left part of the figure the X-ray emission (contour lines) is superposed on a deep optical image. In the upper right part of the figure contour lines of the radio emission, which trace the anomalous arms, are superposed on a map of the hard X-ray emission. The lower parts of the figure show superpositions of the optical emission from the central region of the galaxy with the soft (left) and the hard (right) X-ray emission. gzipped 300 dpi tif version ROSAT (Röntgensatellit) 1995 Images from the X-ray sky with the ROSAT telescope · All rights reserved: © Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik, Postfach 1603, 85740 Garching, Germany.
