Running the XMMSAS developer's version

Please note! This page only applies to MPE members.
As a normal user you do not have to worry about running the deleloper's version of the XMMSAS. However, there may be some cases when tasks are available already in the developer's version of the XMMSAS but not in the most recent release, or when an XMMSAS task is not working in the officially released version, but works in one (or more) developer's version(s).

To activate the developer's version follow the steps listed below:

At MPE you have to be logged onto the o2x (e.g. o22). These are the machines on which the developer's versions are installed and updated regularly.

  1. Only start the developer's version in a window in which the XMMSAS was not started before. If you have defined source /util/xmmsas-setup.sh in you .bash_profile file it will automatically start the most recent officially released XMMSAS version in every window that is started. In this case edit the .bash_profile file and command the line source /util/xmmsas-setup.sh .

  2. To get a list of all available developer's versions type:
        ls /util/xmm/devel/builds

    For example:
    o22(0) ~ > ls /xmm/devel/builds
    latest-dist releasetrack-dist.old xmmsas_5.1.4-dist
    releasetrack-dist sas_log

  3. Now start the developer's version you choose, e.g. the latest distribution latest-dist:
        source /xmm/devel/xmmsas-devel-setup.sh latest-dist

Please note! This command only works in the bash.

  4. Now you can start working with the developer's version. Be always aware that these versions are not tested eventually completely. There might be still bugs in those tasks.
