A quick start quide to using mpemail

Mail services at MPE are provided by the machine mpemail. It provides IMAP and POP services as well as a WebMail interface. To get an account on that machine, contact the central DV group.

Using mpemail: The basics

There are several ways to use mpemail:

Point your web-browser to the WebMail interface and log in using your user name and password
Configure your favorate mail client using the following information:
- Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
- Server Name: mpemail.mpe.mpg.de port 993
- Use secure connection (SSL)
- Outgoing Server (SMTP): mpemail.mpe.mpg.de port 465, using TLS (also supply username and password)
Alternatively, you can also use the POP protocol to access your email:
- bla, weiss ich nicht
- more blabla
