I am a postdoc in the Dynamics Group at the Max-Planck Institut für extraterrestrische Physik (Germany). My research is focused on the structure and dynamics of the inner Galaxy.

One of the most prominent feature of our Galaxy if we could view it from above would be the bar structure. The bar is found from recent data to extend to 5 kpc from the Galactic Centre, more than half the distance to the Sun. Since about 70% of the baryons in the Galaxy are located inside its corotation radius, understanding the complex dynamics of the bar is a requirement for inferring the current structure of the Galaxy, in both its baryonic and dark matter components.
