Esra Bulbul Selected for Humboldt Foundation’s Henriette Herz Scouting Program
Dr. Esra Bulbul, scientist at MPE, has been selected for the prestigious Henriette Herz Scouting Program of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, a distinction that recognizes her academic excellence, international research leadership, and commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists.
The Henriette Herz Scouting Program enables outstanding scientists in Germany to identify and nominate exceptional international early-career researchers for Humboldt Research Fellowships. Through this highly competitive initiative, selected scouts play a pivotal role in strengthening Germany’s research landscape by attracting talented scientists from around the world and facilitating their integration into the German academic system. As a newly appointed scout, Dr. Bulbul will be able to nominate up to three outstanding international researchers for Humboldt Research Fellowships.
Scouts are selected through a rigorous peer-review process that evaluates scientific excellence, mentorship experience, international engagement, and the ability to identify emerging research talent. The program aims to broaden access to the Humboldt network while promoting diversity, international exchange, and long-term scientific collaboration.

Esra Bulbul is a scientist in the highenergy astrophysics group at MPE and leader of the cluster and cosmology research group. She focuses on understanding the large-scale structure and evolution of the Universe through observations across multiple wavelengths. Her work combines data from major international ground-based observatories and space missions to study cosmic structure formation, dark energy, dark matter, and high-energy astrophysical processes. Esra Bulbul is particularly interested in leveraging modern survey data and advanced statistical methods to extract physical insights from complex astronomical datasets, contributing to a deeper understanding of the Universe’s composition and dynamics.
