"What Do String Amplitudes Actually Look Like?"
String theory gives a completely explicit formula for quantum gravitational scattering amplitudes, at least in idealized settings. Actually computing the relevant integrals is a formidable challenge. I will explain a concrete method that achieves this at one loop using an idea from number theory. The result is a practical formula that can readily be implemented. I will show what these amplitudes look like, how they differ from QFT, and what they tell us about the UV structure of string theory.
