The optical/near-IR transtient sky
Introduction:
I should keep this page (and also the others) more up to date. In preparation I alrady removed some of the obsolete text. The time domain science evolves nearly as fast as its typical targets. In the moment I only show a plot that I made for my overview paper about the Palomar Transient Factory (Rau et al. 2009) which demonstrates the diversity of the optical transient sky. The color coding corresponds roughly to the g-r color and the box style indicates how large the sample of known members is for each class (full = many, verticallly hatched = few, horizontally hatched and empty = theoretically predicted but not yet observationally confirmed).
