as you know every night files in /home, xmm.., data1 and for some work1-
directories, BACKUP will be made to a fast Taperoboter at Rechenzentrum (RZG)
using adsm.

Attention! o21-o24 (since 16-Mar-2004) change to another adsm-server changes made:

1. if you want to archive new files - go to '--Description--' 2. if you need a RESTORE of archives made before 16-Mar-2004 you must do: - (bash)export DSM_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.opt.adsm1 - (tcsh)setenv DSM_CONFIG "/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.opt.adsm1" - after launching dsm a window appear with userid/password: userid = no action necessary password = xray than you will see your archives made before 16-Mar-2004

For some purposes it will be fine for a user to "archive" files by self. You can do this by using the command dsm, but read description below. Before type in dsm: - (not needed: copy /usr/skel/.adsmrc to your home-directory) - contact the admins of the machine o2*/ds* (Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Paul or Mr. Bohnet) to insert you in group: adsmuser you could check it with: id | grep adsmuser - which data will you archive? - cd - ls -ald data* or - ls -ald work* - dsm & (or dsmj because of newer version) - if you will get error message like: - unknown system error or - dsmc: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory - try: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin - try: export DSM_LOG=/tmp - There will appear a window, click on: Archive files and directories into long term storage - change Description for your own to identify (default: actual date) (example: userid_data1_xmm) be sure to be the identification is exact, be- cause system-manager has to identify it in future!!!!!
