SHARP II+ is equipped with a NICMOS3 focal plane array from Rockwell International Corporation. Table 2.6 summarizes the detector characteristics.

Beside the read noise of 38 electrons for a complete reset-read-read procedure (the read noise for a single readout is 27 electrons), the linearity range and the dark current are the most important characteristics. They are plotted in the figures 2.1 and 2.2.

Figure 2.3 shows a map of the dead pixels. For all these dead pixels the quantum efficiency differs by more than 20 % from the median.
