GRBs with known redshifts

This table provides a summary of those GRBs for which an estimate of the redshift is available. Note that these redshift estimates have several different sources, e.g. absorption lines in the optical afterglow, absorption/emission lines of the presumed host galaxy, or Fe emission lines in the afterglow X-ray spectra.

Links have been added for each GRB to the corresponding "devoted" GRB page (under the GRB name), and the references, mostly astro-ph or GCN (under each of the numerical values).

NOTE: This table has not been updated anymore since early 2002. Sorry.

NOTE: Energies are just copied from original paper, and may be valid for different energy bands (e.g. BeppoSAX vs. IPN) and/or different cosmologies.
(1) The energy is computed assuming isotropic emission.
(2) Host magnitudes refer to the R band.

The following figure has been produced by Sylvio Klose (Tautenburg Obs.); last rev. Oct 2005. Note that there is a strong observational bias against identifying GRB redshifts in the range 1.3 < z < 2.5 due to the lack of suitable lines in the optical waveband.
