Registration for the GRB 2012 Conference

Please fill in the form below to apply for participation in GRB 2012.

Required fields are  highlighted. Your registration becomes effective only after a confirmation by the organisers, which you will receive from the organisers by e-mail.

Conference fee

The regular conference fee for GRB 2012 amounts to 300€ and covers the Welcome reception on Sunday (May 6) evening, access to all sessions, coffee and refreshments during the session breaks, guided tours on Wednesday (May 9) afternoon (one for each participant), the Conference-Dinner on Thursday (May 10), the publication cost for refereed proceedings, and conference memorabilia.

For students, defined as young researchers not having a PhD yet, we offer a reduced conference fee of 200€. Every applicant for this reduced fee has to provide a short confirmation of the his/her status by his/her advisor (to be sent to before the registration deadline).

Note that registration is only possible together with your choice of method of payment (details see below).

Deadline for registration and payment of the conference fee: February 29, 2012

A late-payment penalty applies: 350€ for any payment after February 29, 2012!

Travel support

We will be able to support a small number of participants with any of the following options: (i) waiving the registration fee, (ii) funding the (cheapest economy) air fare, (iii) providing support for accomodation. This is meant to support participants primarily from developing countries which otherwise would not be able to attend the GRB 2012 conference.

Eligibility and Requirements: Each applicant for travel support (i) must register at the conference, and submit an abstract; (ii) clearly state the reasons why they request support in the "Comments and Remarks" Box at the bottom of the registration page (iii) if selected, must present either a poster or a talk at GRB 2012; (iv) no more than one travel grant will be allocated per presentation; (v) participants from the organizing country are not eligible.

Deadlines and Procedure: February 15, 2012: deadline for applying for travel support.
February 22 (tentative): applicants for travel support will receive emailed notification on the outcome of their travel support request
February 29: applicants should make a final decision about their participation, inform the organizers accordingly (via email to, and withdraw the abstract if they are not able to attend.

Conference dinner
The conference dinner for the participant is included in the conference fee.

We are offering a vegetarian food option for the conference dinner. Please specify how many persons wish to have vegetarian food.

You may choose to participate in only one of the following social events. Details to help you select from the list are given at our Social Events page. Please note that some of the options may get fully booked, and thus be no longer available (even though still listed).

Method of payment

Please indicate your preferred method of payment. Your choice below may be changed (when needed) at any time before the actual money transfer, but helps us watching out where to expect your fees. All payment details will be provided in a PDF-file once your registration is completed.
Credit Cards: We can only accept VISA, MasterCard or American Express cards. Unfortunately, we cannot accept electronic credit card payments. Please complete the credit card form (PDF-file to download on next page) and FAX it to us.
Bank Transfer: Bank details will be provided after registration. Note that bank fees will likely apply if you transfer from outside of Germany (in theory there should be a special form for free transfer within EU-countries, but in practice this special form is often difficult to find).
Debit cards: The cheapest way (for you and for us) is encachment via your Maestro (or similar debit) card: send the card details via FAX, and we charge the debit card. In comparison, even within the EU the bank transfer comes with bank fees (for the addressee). In case of bank transfer, be sure to make reference to "GRB2012".
On-Site payment: While cash, Maestro and Credit Card are possible, this method is depreciated, since we have to cover all expenses before your arrival.
All financial details will be treated strictly confidentially by our administration within the Max-Planck Institute (no external company involved). Thus, privacy is guaranteed.
