Ministers Karliczek and Sibler congratulate Nobel Prize laureate Genzel
During her visit to the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Federal Minister of Education and Research Anja Karliczek took the time for a detailed discussion with Director Genzel and some of his colleagues at MPE. In addition talking about the study of the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, they discussed European cooperation in astronomy, basic research in general and promoting young scientists.
After the meeting, Minister Karliczek pointed out that the Nobel Prize is not only an exceptional recognition for many years of hard work, but also an incentive for young people. For them the message is: "Keep at it!” Germany offers the framework and the necessary research infrastructure for outstanding science, which - as Prof. Genzel stressed - is not an individual achievement, but the result of many years of teamwork.
