Some 350 people are employed at the institute, including about 130 scientists and about 50 junior scientists (including IMPRS students).
In addition, the MPE maintains an active guest programme, which brings 60-70 external scientists to MPE for varying durations.
The MPE is also active in scientific and vocational training. On average, there are 10-15 students were working on their master thesis and about 10 apprentices in the administration and expecially the institute's workshop.
