Electronic Engineering

Electronic Engineering

The engineering devision electronics is devided into three sections. The developers, engineers and technicians, are involved in developing a concept for an instrument until commissioning. The electrical workshop for the qualified assembly of space experiments as well as manufacturing electrical parts and devices. And the third section, the utilities management, looks after building equipment, such as heating systems, air conditioning or electrical systems, and keeps them in an immaculate condition, run them efficiently and in line with demand.

Electronic development

The developers, engineers and technicians, are involved in developing a concept for a new project, engineering it, the construction and testing, up to commissioning and running it. In order to develop a terrestrial or extraterrestrial instrument, the developers collaborate closely with our scientists at the institute as well as with other institutes and organisations. The developing time can last a few years. The electronic developers main task is to develop electronics devices that can be used in space, this also means to meet the standards of the organisations appointing them, for example ESA, DLR or ESO. Apart from developing the hardware, the electronical devision also provides the software for running and steering the instruments.

Electronic workshop

The main task of the electrical workshop is to manufacture qualified electronic parts and devices for the all the research areas and groups at the institute.

Utilities management

The utilities management, looks after the building equipment, such as heating systems, air conditioning or electrical systems and keeps them in an immaculate condition, run them efficiently and in line with demand. And, most importantly, run them smoothly and fix them professional and quick in case of disturbances.
