TMoX is an independent Max-Planck Research Group led by Dr. Sadegh Khochfar at the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics. The group is working mainly on the formation and evolution of structure in the Universe.

One main aspect is the formation and evolution of massive galaxies and their super-massive black holes using theoretical models and numerical simulations. Here we focus not only on the early phases during the first billion years of the Universe when galaxies were forming stars very efficiently and the photons from these stars re-ionized the Universe, but also on the late stages of the evolution, when the galaxy population is well separated into distinct classes.
