The FTIR (Fourier Transform InfraRed Spectrometer)
The CAS group operates a FTIR spectromenter (IFS 120/5HR, Bruker) capable of resolution of 0.002 cm-1. It has a number of sources, detectors and optics providing access to the wavelenght range 5 - 15000 cm-1 (0.7-2000 μm). The instrument is routinely coupled with a multipass cell, as shown in the picture, to study the pressure broadening of gas mixtures in the infrared domain in order to assist the characterization of exoplanetary atmospheres.
